INTRODUCING
MUSICIAN & Vocalist
British electronic composer, producer, vocalist, keyboard player and DJ, Thomas Gandey has gained an international cult status having released an abundance of electro futurisms, electronic tales of musical bliss, vintage synth-led cosmic voyages and his trademark blue eyed electronic soul.
With latest releases on Innervisions, Kompakt & Decca, his output has scored loyal supporters the world over, having all the while enjoyed a triumphant career as an international DJ and Live Artist, holding residencies at Space Ibiza, Barcelona’s Razzmatazz and Womb in Tokyo, to mention a few, amassing over a thousand shows the world over. First discovered under his Cagedbaby guise, his debut album ‘Will See you Now’ was released by ‘Southern Fried Records’ to critical acclaim.
Originally from Brighton, Gandey is an ardent and knowledgeable purveyor of synthesisers and drums machines spanning six decades. Thanks to his classically trained musical background, Thomas is one of the very few producers in dance music who can maximise the sonic potential of these increasingly rare treasures, and weave them in amongst the sounds of today’s electronic scene, for both himself and the many artists he produces.
producer & engineer
Thomas often collaborates with with Berlin’s Radio Slave, notably as Matom, with the pair having released their debut album on Carl Craigs hallowed ‘Planet E’. The release lead to a string of live shows and festivals including the Berghain’s Kantine and numerous Red Bull showcases across Europe. They release Techno together under the moniker ‘Last Communication’, gaining the DJ Mag award for best remix with ‘Lets Prance’ on Crosstown Rebels.
Another significant collaboration is alongside Daniel McLewin of Psychemagik as ‘Ghost Vision’. With releases on Kompakt and Pinchy & Friends, these early releases have led to Ghost Vision being regarded as one of the most hotly tipped Psychedelic dreamscape acts of today.
Eyebrow knitting, cool jams aside, Gandey is no stranger to knocking out a hit. Working alongside ‘The Young Punx’ he released the hit single ‘Loving You Baby”. The fun loving collective is now known as the ‘The Tribe of Good’ and signed to Ultra Music.
As a producer, Thomas has made albums for David Byrne and Fat Boy Slim, the Olivier award winning ‘Here Lies love’ currently on Broadway and for ‘Everything but the Girls’ ‘Tracey Thorn’,
He continues to be main engineer and programmer for ‘Jeff Wayne’s Musical Version of The War of The Worlds’, and has taken his keys playing skills out on three Arena Tours with the project since 2012. Thomas was also engineer on two further ground-breaking projects for TWOTW; a best selling soundtrack led audio book released on Audible as well as creating a 3D sonic soundscape for the award winning VR immersive shows in London.
KEYBOARDIST AND REMIXER
Thomas Gandey remains one of the most in demand vocalists in the underground club music scene with a string of records alongside Artbat, Hot Since 82, Pleasurekraft and Blondish, to name a few.
A highly sought out remixer with hundreds of mixes in the discography, from Grace Jones to Charlotte Gainsbourg, Thomas does everything himself in the studio, from his rippling live keys skills to applying his personal library of field recordings, to his trademark haunting--yet-punchy vocals, helping hundreds of records top numerous dance music charts around the world.
Thomas Gandey’s new record label “Uncaged”, a reference to his earlier moniker Cagedbaby, launched in 2023. The label acts as a long-time-coming loving home to the masses of eclectic material he personally creates, as well as a shop window to some of the wildly talented artists he generously nurtures and supports along the way.
